Attorney "Bud" O’Donnell concentrates his practice in the areas of labor and employment law representing management-only before state and federal courts, the National Labor Relations Board, and administrative agencies. He has tried cases in the U.S. District Court and argues before the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.
Bud specializes in matters before the National Labor Relations Board including representation elections and unfair labor practice hearings. He also advises clients on plant closings and relocation issues, and has represented clients in collective bargaining, grievance arbitration and strike consultation in numerous industries.
He regularly represents public sector clients before state and federal courts and administrative agencies in discrimination claims based on race, age, gender, sex, sexual orientation, natural origin and disability. He works closely with clients to take preventive steps to avoid future claims and properly address issues as they arise so the employer is poised in the best possible way to defend itself.
Bud began his career with Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C., has been with Siegel, O'Connor, O'Donnell & Beck, P.C. since 1979 and serves as the Firm's Managing Director. He is the labor and employment counsel to the Connecticut Restaurant Association, the Connecticut Lodging and Attraction Association, the Connecticut Tooling and Machining Association and the Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc., CT Chapter. He has received Martindale-Hubbell's highest peer review rating of AV and named as one of Connecticut's and New England's Super Lawyers. He is listed among the "Top One Hundred" labor attorneys in the country by the Labor Relations Institute, Inc.

J.L.M., Inc. v. NLRB,31 F.3d 79 (2nd Cir.). The Second Circuit Court of Appeals reversed the decision by the National Labor Relations Board, 312 NLRB 304, which granted a Gissel bargaining order. The court's decision clarified the requirements for a Gissel bargaining order in the Second Circuit.
Hoffman v. Polycast Tech., Division of Uniroyal Tech. Corp., 79 F.3d 331 (2nd Cir.). The Court of Appeals remanded a finding by District Court Judge Chatigny granting a 10(j) injunction under the National Labor Relations Act. The court decided that the record in the District Court did not support the decision by Judge Chatigny to grant the injunction.
Madison Square Garden, CT, LLC, 350 NLRB 117. The Board majority determined that solicitation of authorization cards by supervisors was "inherently coercive" and warranted a new election.
