Peter represents employers in various industries and in the private and public sectors in all aspects of employment and labor relations law, including preventive advice and litigation defense of discrimination claims, wrongful termination, breach of contract litigation, common law employment torts, trade secrets and restrictive covenant violations, and FMLA and wage and hour complaints. He has counseled senior management and human resource professionals on issues involving sexual harassment, reductions in force, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, and preventive labor relations. He also specializes in matters arising under the National Labor Relations Act that include NLRB representation election petitions and unfair labor practice complaint hearings, grievance arbitration and collective bargaining negotiations.

Mr. Janus further serves board of education clients in the practice of education law. He represents them in connection with teacher tenure and termination proceedings, collective bargaining negotiations, special education matters, student discipline and expulsion hearings, and various municipal law issues.

In July 2000, Peter was inducted as a Fellow in the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers, which was established by the American Bar Association to recognize those who by long and outstanding service have distinguished themselves as leaders in the practice of labor and employment law in the United States.

Since 2002 he has served on the American Arbitration Association’s National Employment Disputes Resolution Roster as an arbitrator.

Also, Peter was recognized in Who’s Who Legal, International and USA, Management Labor & Employment Lawyers, 2006 through 2009 and in New England Super Lawyers, Employment and Labor Law, 2007 through 2009.
